Co-Managed IT

Depth behind the person you already have.

Co-managed IT for Texas organizations with internal technical staff — Tier 3 escalation, 24/7 monitoring, patching, and security, without replacing anyone.

Not every organization needs an IT department bought off the shelf. Some already have someone — a systems administrator, an office manager who grew into it, or a genuinely capable technical lead who knows every quirk of the environment. What they don’t have is depth behind them.

That’s what co-managed IT is for.

The problem isn’t capability, it’s coverage

Your internal person handles the floor. They know which printer lies about its error codes, which application the accounting team can’t work without, and who to call in the warehouse. That knowledge is worth more than any vendor relationship, and replacing it would be a mistake.

But one person cannot be on call at 2am, hold current certifications across security, cloud, and networking, review firewall rules on a schedule, and still be available when someone’s laptop won’t boot. Nobody can. When they take a holiday, coverage goes with them.

What we take, and what stays yours

We take the work that scales badly with headcount and rewards specialization:

  • Monitoring and alerting, so a failing disk is a ticket rather than an outage
  • Patching, on a schedule and documented, not squeezed between interruptions
  • Security operations across email, endpoint, and identity
  • Tier 3 escalation — the problems that would otherwise eat a full day
  • After-hours and holidays, so your person can genuinely switch off

Your team keeps the floor, the relationships, and the institutional knowledge. We don’t try to acquire those; we’d do it worse.

The transition is easier when you have a technical lead

Onboarding a larger environment is mostly discovery — what exists, what it depends on, and what nobody documented. An internal technical contact turns that from archaeology into a conversation, and it usually shortens the transition considerably. If you have that person, the engagement starts on much better footing for both of us.

We onboard one large environment per quarter

That’s deliberate, not a capacity limit. Large transitions reward planning: discovery, a documented cutover, and a period running alongside your current arrangement rather than instead of it. Taking on several at once is how MSPs end up learning your environment during an incident.

If your timeline is urgent, say so — emergency transitions are difficult but not impossible, and we’d rather scope it honestly than promise a date we’d miss.

Where co-managed ends and fully managed begins

There’s no fixed headcount where one becomes the other. Some organizations with substantial internal teams want full help desk anyway; some smaller ones have a technical lead and only want depth behind them. We scope it per engagement, and we’ll tell you if fully managed would actually serve you better — including if that means a smaller engagement for us.
