Month-to-month agreements · 24/7 monitoring · Local engineers

The assessment covers

  • Network and hardware — what's solid, what's aging out
  • Security posture — identity, email, endpoints, the basics attackers check first
  • Backup reality — whether what you have would actually restore
  • Support experience — what your team lives with today

Confidential, and yours to keep whoever you hire. If your current setup is solid, that's what the report will say.

Sound familiar?

If IT only shows up after something breaks, you don't have an IT partner. You have a repair service.

  • “I open a ticket and hope. Sometimes I hear back the same day.”
  • “Every month there’s an invoice surprise for something I thought was covered.”
  • “I honestly couldn’t tell you when our backups were last tested.”
  • We run IT the other way around: monitored, patched, and planned — so problems get fixed before your team feels them.

Where we come from

We were the internal IT department.

Black Lab Solutions began as the internal IT operation behind three Texas care companies — Disability Services of the Southwest (DSSW), Lifespan Home Care, and CDS in Texas — and spun off as a separate company in November 2025. The company is new; the team is not — our leadership has been doing this work in healthcare and regulated industries for over twenty years. We know what it's like to sit on your side of the table — to own the budget, answer for the downtime, and justify every renewal — because that was our job.

In its first year, the spin-out lowered the group's overall IT budget by roughly $100,000 — while running 400+ workstations and 40+ servers across all three companies.

  • DSSW & Lifespan Home Carearound 150 desks across 11 Texas locations
  • CDS in Texasthe larger share of the estate, from a single San Antonio office serving clients statewide

Named here with their written permission. We don't identify clients otherwise — why these three are different.

What we do

Three jobs, done properly.

Managed IT

We become your IT department — support, patching, and planning handled.

  • Help desk staffed by local engineers
  • Monitoring and patching on a schedule, not a memory
  • Quarterly roadmap and budget reviews
How it works

Security & Compliance

Stop ransomware before it starts — and pass the audit that follows.

  • Layered defenses: email, endpoint, identity
  • HIPAA and Texas HB300 controls built into daily operations
  • A written, tested incident response plan
How it works

Cloud & Continuity

Microsoft 365 set up right, and backups you have seen restore.

  • Identity-first Microsoft 365 configuration
  • Off-site, immutable backup copies
  • Recovery objectives agreed per system, in writing

Monitoring and alerting

Response targets are written into our agreements, and monitoring alerts usually reach us before your team notices. Workstation and server counts are the three-company care group we ran as their internal IT, and still run today — the story above.

Switching

Onboarding runs alongside what you have now.

The fear of switching is a coverage-gap fear. There isn't one: your current arrangement stays live until the cutover is done.

  1. Assessment and inventory

We document your environment — devices, accounts, licenses, credentials — while your current arrangement keeps running.

  2. Monitoring and cutover

Agents deploy, monitoring goes live, and documentation moves into a system you can inspect.

  3. Your team meets ours

Everyone learns the one number to call, and the first tickets get handled with the safety net doubled.

  4. First quarterly review

Leadership sees what we found, what we fixed, and the roadmap — with a budget attached.

Fair questions

We have one internal IT person. Do you replace them?

Usually we work alongside them. Your person keeps the floor and the local knowledge; we take monitoring, security, after-hours, and project depth. If the right answer for your size is internal-only, we’ll say so — see our internal IT comparison guide.

What does managed IT cost?

A flat monthly rate based on your seat count and what’s covered, agreed in writing before anything starts. We publish the pricing model, not a number, because the number depends on your environment — the assessment produces a firm quote.

Are we locked into a long contract?

No — our agreements are month-to-month. An annual option exists for clients who want our availability guaranteed, and even those can be canceled mid-term. Offboarding is written into the agreement: your passwords, documentation, and data come back to you on departure.

Do you actually know healthcare?

Compliance-heavy businesses are our specialty. HIPAA and Texas HB300 obligations — risk assessments, access controls, training deadlines, breach notification — are built into how we run covered environments, and we sign business associate agreements.
